"Thank you," he replies and trails to a halt, as if he's trying to figure out what to say. He turns to her, a distant look in his eyes.

"Then... there's something I would like to give you. As a token of my affection."

He produces a ring - something simple, but clearly of value, and he holds it out to her, "...I hope you'll accept it."
